Corruption Allegations Against Ex-Mayor of Cuauhtémoc

Alessandra Rojo de la Vega raises concerns about alleged corruption by former Cuauhtémoc mayor Sandra Cuevas, highlighting ongoing investigations and extortion claims.

Alessandra Rojo de la Vega reported that accusations of corruption and extortion by the previous administration in the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office continue. She pointed out that some crimes could go unpunished if not investigated properly. Of the 40 complaints filed against the former mayor at the beginning of the year, Rojo de la Vega did not have details on the status of the proceedings.

The suspension of all social media accounts of Sandra Cuevas sparked speculation about an alleged investigation against her by U.S. authorities. After two days of controversy, a video surfaced of an interview with Cuevas where she claims to live in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City, but does not clarify the current situation.

In the viral video, published in January 2025, Sandra Cuevas responds to accusations of corruption during her tenure, reported by Rojo de la Vega. Alessandra Rojo has accused Cuevas of continuing to operate in the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office despite not holding the position since the previous year. A recent complaint filed by the current mayor is mentioned regarding the obligation of workers in the area to make illegal collections from merchants.

In a video from April 4, Rojo de la Vega shared an audio recording in which Sandra Cuevas allegedly asks a worker to make improper collections. The accusations of corruption and extortion remain present between the current and previous administrations in the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office.
